Stillness Within Lines.

2026.5.25

26FW  #4

The snow fell quietly throughout the days I stayed there.

Towering mountains stood wrapped in a deep blue veil , radiating a noble beauty.

Within the tension of the cold air , the fabric seemed to breathe , as the split in a noren curtain swayed ever so slightly.

Straight light spilling through the narrow opening drew a soft arc in the space.

Unassuming , yet naturally captivating in its beauty.

A folk headpiece displayed at the inn.
A roughly shaped flower vessel.

The gaps between the wooden winter enclosures , and the wavering surface of old glass.

Curves born within straight lines. A veil gently enveloping the body.

They felt somehow connected to the presence drifting within a drawing I once made —
a form not yet fully becoming a silhouette —
and to the quiet posture of the people I encountered in this town.

The women I met in this place , where the word “Dotoku” was born,
were never ostentatious.

And yet , like air exposed to snow , they possessed a dignified beauty.

Lines falling straight downward.
The quiet space created between fabric and body.
A subtle movement that appears only while walking.

Strength and softness coexisting within the same outline.
